The 7-Prompt AI Visibility Checklist
In the next five minutes you'll know whether AI recommends your brand, ignores it, or gets it wrong. No tools needed — just your brand name and an AI chat window.
How to run it
- Open at least two of: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity (free versions are fine).
- Use a fresh chat — no earlier conversation about your brand in the same thread.
- Replace the [brackets] with your real category, city and competitors.
- Note the answers — there's a simple scoring guide at the end.
Look for: Are you in the list at all? What position? This is the single most common way buyers ask AI for a recommendation.
Look for: Alternative-seekers are high-intent buyers. If AI names your competitors here but not you, they're winning deals you never saw.
Look for: Confidence and tone. "I don't have much information" is a red flag — buyers read uncertainty as risk.
Look for: Accuracy. Wrong services, old prices, discontinued products, or a positioning you abandoned years ago — this is what every prospect who asks hears.
Look for: Who does AI lean toward, and which strengths does it credit each side with? Note the exact wording — it usually comes from third-party sources.
Look for: Which review platforms and sources get cited (especially on Perplexity). Those citations are where AI's opinion of your category is formed.
Look for: A clear yes with reasons, a hedge, or a redirect to a competitor. This is the closest thing to hearing AI sell — or unsell — your brand.
Scoring: count the prompts where you were mentioned and described accurately
You're effectively invisible to AI — buyers asking these questions are being sent elsewhere. The good news: starting from zero shows the fastest gains.
AI knows you exist but the picture is inconsistent — strong in some answers, absent or inaccurate in others. This is the most common result, and the most fixable.
